Bible Camp

Located at 9,200' in the Pinaleno Mountains (Mount Graham), the Southern Arizona Bible Camp has been in operation since 1968. Managed by the Palo Verde congregation in Tucson, the camp is used and supported by many people. A cool retreat during the hot summers, the remote mountain-top camp is a great place to get closer to God.

 

This year's sessions:
June 12-18, 2011 - 3rd-6th grade (must have completed 3rd grade)
June 19-24, 2011 - 7th-12th (must have completed 7th grade)

We have a need - can you help?              

The water tanks that we currently have are over 40 years old and in need of replacement. We need to raise 10K to cover this cost. We also need to replace the roof over the main buliding. This project will cost around 10K. These two projects are a priority; we have to raise 20K. This camp has been, and we pray wil continue to be, an outreach program that will bring many youth to Christ. If you can help us in raising these funds, please make your check to AZ Church of Christ Bible Camp and you can give it to Leonard or Lisa Taylor or you can mail it to VMCoC P.O.Box 682, Sierra Vista, AZ 85636. Many improvements been made recently by volunteers, who work to keep the camp in good shape. Some of the jobs done include:

• water bars for erosion control
• water-proofing the benches and clearing the brush at the outdoor chapel
• cleaning and painting the walls and floor in the kitchen
• lightening up the dining hall with softer colors and a cleaner floor
• reworking some of the electrical
• new washer & dryer
• a new pre-rinse sprayer for washing dishes
• new (to us) dining hall tables, that fold up to save space
• stacking student chairs to replace the old steel-and-wood ones
• storage room converted to a restroom in the dining hall
• drinking fountain and hand-wash sink in dining hall
• a near-new 60" commercial range with griddle 
• projection screen for lessons and lyrics
• removing dead trees
• the Forest Service graded the road to camp, a huge improvement!

More needs to be done! We are in need of the following items: 

• a new metal roof for the dining hall
• new steel doors on the boy's cabins
• new knobs/locks for all doors
• renovate the restrooms
• replace two 10,000 gallon water tanks
