Our Preacher

Cecil & Nicky Price

Hello, my name is Cecil Price, and I am the minister here at Village Meadows. I have been here since September of 2002. July 19th was a real milestone for me: it was the 30th anniversary of my entry into full-time ministry. I am glad to have reached that milestone here.

Sunday, September 13, will mark the beginning of our eighth year here.

My wife Nicky and I fell in love with this church family immediately. We are very glad to be part of such a warm, accepting group. This family truly is family. We laugh together, pray together, cry together, hope together—you know—the way Christians ought to be with one another!

I hope you will come see what we are all about—trying to be like Jesus in our world.

Spring Has Sprung

I don’t know if that title is “good English”, but I like it.  The year is hastening on, whether we like that or not.  The months seem to be flying past.  I am reminded of the lyrics of a song…

”Swiftly we’re turning life’s daily pages,

Swiftly the hours are changing to years.

How are we using God’s golden moments?

Shall we reap glory, shall we reap tears?

Into our hands the gospel is given,

Into our hands is given the light.

Haste, let us carry God’s precious message,

Guiding the erring back to the right.”

This song is a challenge—a message—possibly an indictment.  We have work to do here, brothers and sisters, and it is a work that will not “do” itself.  We have people that we need to reach, and we truly do not know how much time we have.  There are opportunities for service all around, and we need to be answering the call.

God’s Word says “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”   There is something for each of us to do…if you do not know what that could be, start looking!  There are so many things going on in this congregation that I am sure there is something for you.  Come on Monday night at 6:00---there will be something you can do.

Don’t forget top pray for and encourage those participating in LTC next weekend.  Hey---those are a few things we can all do----pray and encourage.

Pray for Our Country

We live in dangerous times.  It may not seem like it in some ways, but we really do live in dangerous times.  As Christians, we often distance ourselves from what is going on around us in our society, but we really do not have that luxury.  People quote the scripture “Be in the world, but not of the world” and interpret that to mean we have no part or say in what is going on around us in our world.  The fact is that we do live in this world, and we have a responsibility to each other and to those around us to take a stand for what is right in the eyes of God.

Our political leaders seem to live in a different world than the one I see---a world where morality depends on your point of view (read THEIR point of view) and money doesn’t just grow on trees, it falls from the sky.  Backroom deals are made, and laws are passed that even our leaders acknowledge aren’t really crafted well, yet their claim is that they are for the “greater good”.

Historically, those words generally mean that we, the people, are about to be trampled.  The only “greater good” that exists or can exist comes through the will of God.  As we obey and spread the Gospel, the “greater good” is brought about by the GREATEST GOOD, our Lord and Savior Jesus the Messiah.  We need to step up and make our voices heard for God in our city, county, state, and country. Dante said “The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who in times of great moral crises maintained their neutrality”.

We need to “Stand up, stand up for Jesus” as the words of that old song have said for years.  Pray for our Country! Pray for  our leaders that they might see God’s will as greater than their own.  Let’s pray for each other to have the courage to live for God in an ungodly world.      Cecil  03/18/2010
